Disney’s Zootopia 2 Roars into Record Books with the Highest Global Animated Opening and Top Hollywood Animation Debut of 2025 Across Southeast Asia
Wednesday, December 3, 2025: Walt Disney Animation Studios’ highly anticipated sequel, Zootopia 2, has made a monumental entry, seizing the global box office crown. The film commanded an astounding US$556 million during its premiere weekend, securing the title for the highest global debut of 2025 and achieving the highest-grossing worldwide opening for any animated feature in Disney’s history. This spectacular performance also positions it as the 4th highest global opening of all time across all film genres.

The success story extends powerfully into Southeast Asia (SEA), where the animated blockbuster has already generated over $8 million to date. Regional markets, particularly Malaysia ($2 million) and Thailand ($1.7 million), spearheaded this regional triumph. The film immediately claimed the All Industry No. 1 opening slot in key territories, including Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

PH Local Immersion: Zootopia 2 Lands in the Philippines
Filipino fans were fully immersed in the world of Zootopia 2 through a series of exciting activations. A captivating, interactive Zootopia-inspired installation was launched at the bustling SM Mall of Asia. Furthermore, a highly visible Zootopia 2 bus embarked on a city-wide tour, traveling along Metro Manila’s major thoroughfares, visiting local schools, universities, and popular parks, bringing the film's excitement directly to the communities.
About the Film
In Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Zootopia 2, newly established police partners Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (voiced by Jason Bateman) are drawn into an elaborate mystery. Their lives are upended by the arrival of the enigmatic Gary De’Snake (voiced by Ke Huy Quan), who throws the animal metropolis into chaos. To crack the case, Judy and Nick must venture into unexpected corners of the city, testing their growing, yet complex, partnership as never before.
The star-studded voice cast also features incredible talent, including Fortune Feimster, Andy Samberg, Idris Elba, Patrick Warburton, Quinta Brunson, Nate Torrence, and the return of Shakira as the beloved pop star, Gazelle.
