UNIQLO Joins Forces with ABS-CBN Foundation for Ocean Conservation Project

UNIQLO Philippines, a well-known global leader in the clothing business, is excited to announce that they will be working together with the ABS-CBN Foundation (AFI) on the 2024 Citizen Science Program. The creation of this joint venture is a big step toward a better future for our world and its people.

The partnership shows how committed UNIQLO is to reducing its effect on the environment and how important it is to be a good steward of both society and the environment. The Citizen Science Program is a new and innovative idea from Bantay Kalikasan, AFI's environmental conservation section. Its goal is to help communities grow by bringing together scientists and regular people.

Since it began in May 2024, the partnership has already started to work with communities in Mabini, Batangas, to get them involved in projects that protect the sea's important resources. This is made easier by AFI's large network of scientists. The goal of the Citizen Science program is to teach people in the community how to keep an eye on coral reefs and marine protected areas, make a Natural Resources Management plan that can be easily put into action, and set up a system for dealing with home trash. The program also gives people in the area the chance to get jobs.

On May 30, a Memorandum of Agreement was signed at the UNIQLO Global Flagship Store in Glorietta 5 to make the relationship official. Roberta L. Lopez-Feliciano, Managing Director of the ABS-CBN Foundation, Sarah A. Agcaoili, OIC of the ABS-CBN Foundation Bantay Kalikasan Program, and Geraldine Sia, Chief Operating Officer of UNIQLO Philippines, were some of the important people who attended.

During the contract signing, Geraldine Sia, COO of UNIQLO Philippines, stressed how important the relationship was. "UNIQLO's partnership with the ABS-CBN Foundation strengthens our commitment to using the Power of Clothes to help protect the environment for future generations." "The goal of the Citizen Science initiative is to give communities not only the knowledge and skills they need to protect the environment but also real ways to make a living," Sia said.
