| DOST-PCIEERD, TikTok Ink Collaboration to Reinforce the Promotion of Pinoy Innovation |
DOST-PCIEERD inked a Memorandum of Understanding with TikTok during the virtual launch to promote Filipino technologies through its TikTok science communication account @pinoyscience.
Dr. Enrico Paringit, Executive Director of DOST PCIEERD, said that this collaboration is a big boost for the scientific community as it continues to reach out to Filipino netizens and gain support for Filipino researchers' innovations.
"Communicating science to the public has always been a challenge for our researchers. As a leader and partner in enabling innovations, we are excited with this collaboration with TikTok as a new avenue for us to share distinctly pinoy innovations through this social media platform," he said.

This partnership with TikTok is a six-month collaboration in which TikTok will provide researchers with training on how to use the Science Communication Platform, promote Filipino technologies, and conduct TikTok Filipino Community Contests.

The first contest is the hashtag challenge #PinoyInnovator, which aims to demonstrate how creative and resourceful Filipinos are. Common household items will be creatively used through this challenge to develop a nifty innovation. As the "Pinoy Science Innovator 2021." the winners of the challenge will be hailed. They will be announced in April 2021.
The #PinoyScience hashtag challenge, which challenges TikTok users to explain the science behind the scientific projects supported by DOST PCIEERD, is another contest that will be launched.
The hashtag challenge #PinoyScience will run from April to July 2021. Beginning in May 2021, three winners will be announced each month.
