In line with the said launch. HOOQ also introduced the HOOQ FREEPLAY Festival, an innovative streaming fest that will host various local movies, series, and TV shows from HOOQ’s library onto the freemium layer every quarter.

According to HOOQ, this move amplifies its campaign to deliver the best not just in regional and Hollywood content but also in showcasing the best in local content by celebrating the essence of Pinoy pride.

“HOOQ is attuned to the evolving needs of the social, convenience-driven and digital-savvy Filipino. We understand local nuances and most importantly, we get our audience – so we’re introducing HOOQ FREE and the HOOQ FREEPLAY Festival in response to their wants and needs as VOD consumers,” shared HOOQ Philippines Country Manager Sheila Paul.

Enhancing the user experience of its platform, HOOQ FREE grants Filipinos the freedom to watch and choose from a wide array of popular and acclaimed on-demand local films, programs, live channels, and short-form content without the need to create their own account on the HOOQ app or on the HOOQ website.

Through HOOQ Free which was designed for immediate access for users, content can be browsed via the web, the mobile app, and on select TV models and set-top boxes. Apart from this, HOOQ also added new channels on its HOOQ live TV -- CNN Philippines and PTV. With this, the total number of live and feature TV channels of HOOQ has increased to 20.

“We are giving Filipinos the freedom to view over 1,000 titles for free! There will be no sign-ups, no registration for a trial or paid subscription needed. Based on our data and insights, and our deep connection to the local audience, we know that video entertainment delight is all about instant enjoyment, consumption that's mobile, and the power of bite-size and binge-worthy content with local relevance,” said HOOQ Chief Content Officer Jennifer Batty.

The HOOQ FREEPLAY Festival, on the other hand, is launched just in time for the celebration of Independence Day and the LGBT Pride Month in the Philippines. For the first ever festival, HOOQ will shift over 1,000 local titles from HOOQ VIP, HOOQ’s SVOD (subscription video-on-demand) layer onto HOOQ FREE for the duration of one-month, from June 21 to July 20, 2019.

Among the titles onboard HOOQ FREE for the said streaming fest includes the recent smash-hit ULAN, starring Nadine Lustre and Carlo Aquino, and co-produced with Viva Films.

HOOQ has also added an all-new HOOQ Original titled ‘Sex Talks with Dr. Holmes,’ a 10-episode series that tackles about questions and concerns about sex from real people. The said show will feature a dramatization of situations as told through letters from various senders.

Also included on HOOQ’s catalogue are well-loved and acclaimed movies and shows including Krypton, John Wick, La La Land and Marvel’s The Avengers, as well as the latest HOOQ Originals, plus Korean dramas like Jewel in the Palace and Winter Sonata.
