“We are very pleased with the results of the development,” said Jalosjos, who has been overseeing the project. “It will be an unforgettable experience to play there.
“Most of what you will see is unheard-of in golf,” says Gibson, a former Asian Tour champion who is guiding the finishing touches on the course’s back nine. “To begin with, there is a record 1.9 miles of ocean in play, beating the record 1.6 miles of Pebble Beach.”
With Dakak’s readily-available materials needed for the completion of the golf course including the grass, some parts of the said golf course are already open for play such as the front nine.
Designed by Greg Norman, the golf course has three par 3’s, three par 4’s, and three par 5’s on each nine, which has challenges in its every hole. Seven of the first nine holes are planted facing the Sulu Sea, which is one of the unique features of Dakak.
Among the holes in the golf course include those which would require the golfer’s shot to go over water, while there’s a single hole which will require a near-perfect tee-off over a waterfall to get onto the green.
Dakak has also created the golf course with a seamless blend of blue and green which hides the man-made structures.
