Spearheaded by the World Branding Forum, the said award-giving body aims to level up branding standards. The ‘Brand of the Year’ citation is considered as the ultimate citation a brand can be given.

For this year, only one National tier winner was chosen in each category per country. Other than Mr. DIY, other Malaysian companies that were recognized include Maybank for Banking and Spritzer for Water.

Mr. DIY joins the list of this year’s global winners which include Beijing Tong Ren Tang, BMW, Cartier, Club Med, JinkoSolar, Johnnie Walker, Lego, L'Oréal, Louis Vuitton, Nescafé, Rolex, Samsung, Schwarzkopf, and Yakult.

Among the criteria to select the best brands are brand evaluation, consumer market research, and points garnered through public online voting.

Mr. DIY Head of Marketing Andy Chin said that the award brings pride and honor to the whole of the company, attributing the success to all their hardworking employees.

“MR. D.I.Y. is extremely honored and proud to win this distinguished Brand of the Year award. We believe that this recognition will bring MR.DIY to greater heights of reputation and confidence in the brand across the globe. Other than that, MR. D.I.Y. attributes today’s success to all management and front-liners for their continuous dedication, contribution, and effort in shaping what MR. D.I.Y. is today,” Chin said.
“The awards celebrate the achievements of some of the greatest brands around the globe. With an average of just six winners per country, it is truly a great achievement to be a winner of these awards,” said Richard Rowles, Chairman of the World Branding Forum.
“More than 4,500 brands from 57 countries were nominated this year, with 351 brands from 49 countries declared as winners. 81 brands from 16 countries were awarded in New York, and 270 winners from 33 countries were awarded in London,” added Peter Pek, Chief Executive of the Forum. “Not every country was awarded, as a few did not receive enough votes to qualify.”

Since its establishment in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia in 2015, Mr. DIY has successfully expanded all over Asia with branches in Brunei, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, and their newest market – the Philippines.

Each Mr. DIY branch occupies around 10,000 square feet of retail space to provide products and services from hardware to household needs, electrical, car accessories, stationery, toys, gifts, sports, and even jewelry and cosmetics.

“The company’s vision is to become the largest home improvement retailer in Asia-Pacific and it strives to always put customers first by operating an innovative business that is flexible when it comes to product variety and quality at value-for-money prices,” says MR. D.I.Y. Philippines COO Roselle B. Andaya.

Here in the Philippines, Mr. DIY is located at Ayala Mall Circuit, Makati City; Fishermall, Quezon City; and Balagtas Town Center, Bulacan.
