Located in Mandaue City, the PhP 1-billion VITRO Data Center running on PLDT’s robust fiber optic network spanning over 187,000 kilometers will cater to the increased data and ICT needs of around 10,000 industrial and commercial businesses in the said city, as well as enterprises in the whole Cebu province which include industries of shipping, furniture-making, tourism, and business process outsourcing (BPO).

The said VITRO Data Center is the 10th data center of PLDT in the Philippines, adding to those situated in Makati, Pasig, Clark Economic Zone, and Davao, the first area with the said data center in Mindanao.

PLDT established these data centers to address the growing demand for colocation in the banking and finance industry, IT-BPM, content and media, retail, and public sectors, among others. The 10 sites are interconnected via a software-defined network, making data centric services available across all facilities.

“This new state-of-the-art facility is part of the PLDT Group’s nationwide effort to support local organizations and enterprises of all sizes—helping them store, manage and safeguard mission-critical data from cybersecurity threats and physical disasters,” said Eric Alberto, PLDT Group EVP and Chief Revenue Officer and ePLDT President and CEO.

The VITRO Cebu 2 carries a maximum of 800 racks, amplifying ePLDT’s current 8,300 rack capacity. Built from the group up, the new facility utilizes the latest technologies including finger-vein scanning features, special CCTV cameras, and 24/7 monitoring and surveillance.

“We’ve made sure that all our critical systems—uninterruptable power supplies, switch gears, and transformers—are fully redundant, so collocated clients need not worry about service interruptions that could temporarily halt business operations. This infrastructure redundancy also allows us to conduct IT maintenance without any disruption on client operations, ensuring that crucial data remains safe, all of which resides behind 11 formidable layers of security," said ePLDT Group’s SVP and Chief Operating Officer Nerisse Ramos.
“Digital infrastructure is becoming a non-negotiable for enterprises today, especially those in the Visayas region which continues to thrive. With local economic performance expected to grow significantly in the next five years, we’ve made considerable improvements to our infrastructure and services to keep up with the demands of our customers and fully support their growth and security,” said SVP and Head of PLDT & SMART Enterprise Business Groups Jovy Hernandez.
“The launch of our 10th VITRO Data Center is a milestone for us as we continue to fulfill our promise of enabling the business landscape of the Philippines. Ultimately, our vision has always been to lay the digital groundwork, so businesses can stay agile and competitive not just locally, but on an international level. Empowered enterprises make a solid foundation for a Philippines that’s ready to take on the future,” said Alberto.
