| Magic and Innovation Combine with Vivo X21’s In-Display Fingerprint Scanning Technology |
Launched in the Philippines on June 21, the said in-display fingerprint scanner allows a more unified design for smartphones.
A product of Vivo’s innovation and research, the in-display fingerprint scanner allows smartphone unlocking of the Vivo X21 through its AMOLED display which emits light to illuminate the finger of the user on the screen. Based on the reflected light captured by the optical fingerprint sensor beneath the OLED display, the sensor processes signals to deliver fast and secure unlocking process at only 0.6 seconds. Users can also unlock the said smartphone even when its display is on idle or off.
Vivo’s in-display fingerprint scanning technology was first announced at the Mobile World Congress in Shanghai last 2017. At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018, Vivo showcased the first ready-to-produce smartphone carrying the said technology.
The in-display fingerprint scanning breakthrough is also a product of extensive research of different teams from the company’s research and development centers worldwide including in San Diego, US, and in Shenzhen, Dongguan, Nanjing, Hangzhou, and Beijing in China.
